AAU to hold African Centres of Excellence Impact Workshop

The Association of African Universities AAU says all is set to hold the 5th African Centers of Excellence ACE , Impact Regional Workshop to review activities and progress made towards achieving the overall goal of the projects.

The AAU also says the ACE Impact project is convening its stakeholders to monitor the improvement of the quality, quantity, and development of impact of postgraduate education in Africa.

AAU, in a statement signed by its Communications and Publications Officer , Felicia Kuagbedzi, said the meeting will afford the Centres of Excellence the opportunity to share experiences, build networks, and forge partnerships to ensure the successful implementation and sustainability of the project.

It added that the Workshop will feature the overall progress registered in the implementation of ACE Impact and key priority areas such as highlights on the digital education network project, which seeks to exploit the advances in digital technologies for education towards the transformation of teaching practices for the benefit of students.

“ACE Impact project’s engagement with the Partnership for skills in Applied Sciences, Engineering and Technology (PASET), an initiative launched by African governments (with facilitation by the World Bank, Parallel sessions on monitoring and evaluation, financial management, procurement and safeguards, as well as a special session for Vice-Chancellors whose institutions are involved in the project” 

“ Learning and research outputs presentations by students undertaking innovative and transformational research at ACE Impact Centers”

The meeting will also focus on the key next steps for each country, institution, and centre in implementing the project plans, and provide guidance to the centers to better meet the requirement and targets for disbursement, fiduciary, and safeguards.

Participants of the event will consist of 53 centres of Excellence and other stakeholders including government representatives from participating countries, Vice Chancellors ,representatives from the higher education sector,the private sector and policy think tanks.

The workshop will hold between 24th and 28th of May, 2021, Virtually.

The 5th ACE regional event is being organised by the AAU, in collaboration with the World Bank and the French Development Agency.
