Muslim Clerics in Ebonyi State, Southeast Nigeria have called on people to eschew violence and embrace peace for better development in the country.
The Chief Imam of Ebonyi Central Mosque, Mohammed Amin stated this while addressing Journalists after their Eid al Fitr prayer in Abakaliki the State capital.
Amin said God has been faithful in protecting the country despite the level of insecurity.
“We thank Almighty Allah for keeping us till today; insecurity has ravaged the country. I call on the leaders to put end to this menace”, he said.
He said the leaders should rise up to their responsibilities of securing the country.
Also, the Chief Imam of Hossana Mosque, Alhaji Ishaq Adamu equally thanked God for his blessings towards Nigeria.
The Commissioner of Police in the State, Alyiu Garba said sallah celebration signifies the end of Ramadan fast.
Garba urged the people of the State and all over Nigeria to celebrate it with love and peace.
“Security has been beefed up in the State; we should celebrate and rejoice for having fasted for long time”, Garba said.
A Christian, Victor Nwegede wished them happy Eid al Fitr celebration.
Mr Nwegede urged them to celebrate peacefully.
