The President of the Nigeria Labour Congress, Comrade Ayuba Waba and other National Presidents alongside general secretaries of affiliates are in Kaduna State to ensure full enforcement of the five days warning strike.

The NLC President said each affiliate is expected to mobilize five hundred members to ensure full enforcement of the strike  in the State.

He explained that the warning strike will last till Friday.

Speaking with Voice of Nigeria, the Kaduna State Secretary of NLC, Comrade Christiana John Bawa assured that all affiliates of the Nigeria Labour Congress are fully committed to participate in the strike  without compulsion.

The NLC is embarking on a five day warning strike against the disengagement of over four thousand workers by Kaduna State Government in  April, 2021.

Blackout

Meanwhile, the Management of Kaduna Electric has informed its customers in the State that the service interruption currently being experienced is as a result of the industrial action embarked upon by the Nigerian Labour Congress.

In a statement signed by the Kaduna Electric Head, Corporate Communication, Abdulazeez Abdullahi, he said the blackout is in compliance with the NLC directive, hence, the Transmission Company of Nigeria, TCN knocked off all the 33KV lines in Kaduna State.

He therefore appealed to all communities, security agencies and vigilante groups to be vigilant so that men of underworld will not cash in on the situation to vandalise power supply installations. “Any suspicious movement around distribution sub-stations (transformers) should be reported to the relevant security agency”. “We have the collective responsibility to protect these critical national assets in our neighborhood”, he stressed.

He called on both parties in the dispute to strive at an amicable resolution for normalcy to return.
