Liverpool goalkeeper Alisson produced a stunning injury-time winner to snatch a 2-1 victory against West Brom at the Hawthorns stadium, keeping the Reds’ top-four hopes alive.

It was a must-win game for Liverpool in its bid for a top-four finish, while the pressure was off for the already relegated West Brom. After a series of set-pieces were launched into Liverpool’s penalty area, Sam Allardyce’s side took the lead with a slick move.

Matheus Pereira picked up the ball midway into Liverpool’s half and flicked a pass past Rhys Williams for Hal Robson-Kanu to run on to. The striker finished in style to record his first Premier League goal since November 2017.

Liverpool responded well after creating some chances after going behind, with Sadio Mane shooting wide while Williams saw his effort blocked, and Salah firing straight at Sam Johnstone.

In the 33rd minute, Liverpool equalised through Salah. With the ball bouncing around the edge of the West Brom area, Mane played the ball off to Salah, who curled a beautiful low shot into the far corner.

The goal moved Salah level with Harry Kane in the Golden Boot standings, a race which looks set to go down to the wire just like the top-four battle.

The chances continued to flow at both ends of the pitch after the break, with Mane finding the net from an offside position four minutes after the restart before Nat Phillips tracked back brilliantly to take the sting out of Pereira’s effort on the counter-attack.

Liverpool had thrown everything at Sam Allardyce’s already-relegated side, with chances from Salah, Firmino, Thiago Alcantara and Gini Wijnaldum. But they weren’t able to unlock the resilient West Brom defence.

However, it was the Liverpool goalkeeper who stole all the headlines with a brilliant header from a corner in the final minute of added time to give his side a 2-1 lead, sparking wild celebrations from the Liverpool players and the bench.
