The Government of Ebonyi State Southeast Nigeria says South-East security outfit known as Ebubeagu is not after any political party or members of opposition parties.

The State Commissioner for Internal Security, Border Peace and Conflict Resolution, Mr Stanley Okoro-Emegha, stated this while reacting to the allegations by some members of the National Assembly from the State elected in the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) who are saying that the Ebube-Agu security outfit was an illegal armed men organized by the Governor of the state Engr David Umahi to be attacking political opponent in the State.

Okoro-Emegha said the State House of Assembly has made a law backing the operation of the security outfits.

“Southeast security outfit, popularly known as Ebubeagu had come to stay, and is not after the members of the PDP as being alleged.”

He said major security agencies in Nigeria are aware of the operations of Ebubeagu security outfit. Therefore, it is a legalized group.

The State Commissioner who is also the Chairman, caretaker committee of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the State, noted that Ebube-Agu security outfit was formed to complement the security agencies and to tackle the rising insecurity in the State.

“Ebube-Agu security outfit was formed by the Governor’s of Southeastern Nigeria to contain the insecurity in the region and not to witch hunt any PDP member or other Political opponent.

“This is to let the whole world know that all allegations levelled against Ebube-Agu and Ebonyi State Government by the National Assembly Members in PDP were all falsehoods” Okoro-Emegha said.

The Commissioner said Ebubeagu will work in synergy with other security agencies in the State to eliminate crimes and maintain security.
