Destruction of public infrastructures unacceptable – FCT Perm Sec

In a bid to ensure that residents of the Federal Capital Territory continue to enjoy steady supply of portable water, the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Permanent Secretary, Mr. Olusade Adesola has carried out inspection tour of the Lower Usuma Dam Treatment Plant located in Bwari Area Council of FCT with a view to ascertaining areas the Administration needs to improve.

Mr. Adesola who remarked that the construction of the water treatment plant shows the administration’s huge investment in the advancement of the welfare of her citizens, stressed that the FCT Administration would continue to prioritize the maintenance of the Dam for optimum service delivery.

The Permanent Secretary who made the disclosure during an inspection tour of the massive project, further disclosed that the FCT Administration is taking all the necessary precautionary measures to avert any ugly situation around the Dam. He however expressed shock over the massive encroachment around the Dam reserve areas, explaining that in the event of any failure, the volume of water from the Dam can submerge the entire Bwari.

Describing as totally unacceptable and reprehensible the spate of destruction of government facilities, the Permanent Secretary directed the acting Managing Director of Water Board, Mrs. Joy Okoro to work with the Security Department to ensure men of the Civil Defence Corps attached to the Board are redeployed to protect all facilities owned by the Board in line with the mandate of the Corps.

Present at the inspection tour with the Permanent Secretary includes: Acting Executive Secretary of FCDA, Hajia Zahliatu Ahmed, Acting Managing Director of FCT Water Board, Mrs. Joy Okoro, Directors and other management staff of FCTA and FCDA.
