Anambra State First Lady, Dr. Nonye Soludo, has called for the adoption of green solutions as sustainable measures to protect the environment from hazards and pollution.
In a press statement released to mark the 2025 World Environment Day, themed “Beat Plastic Pollution,” Dr. Soludo emphasized the need for collective action to safeguard the environment.
She highlighted that this year’s theme encourages individuals and communities to embrace sustainable practices aimed at halting biodiversity loss, reducing air pollution and greenhouse gas emissions, and minimizing plastic waste to preserve the planet.
“Our environment is the closest bond we share with nature. How we treat it is crucial. What we give to it, it gives back to us,” Dr. Soludo stated.
She expressed concern over the growing environmental threats driven by human negligence, urging everyone to reassess their attitudes towards the environment.
“As we join the global community to commemorate World Environment Day, we are called to take bold steps, advocate practical solutions, and support green initiatives for the overall well-being of our environment,” she added.
Dr. Soludo further stressed the importance of deliberate and united efforts in prioritizing policies and actions that strengthen Nigeria’s environmental space and ecosystem, ensuring the sustainability of natural resources for current and future generations.
