The State Chairmen of the Social Democratic Party ,SDP, under the umbrella of the SDP State Chairmen Forum, says that the National Chairman of the Party Shehu Gabam is not suspended by the national Working Committee of the party.
In a statement signed by the Secretary, SDP State Chairmen Forum Mr, Danlami Mohammed Musa debunked the purported suspension of the National Chairman .
Mr. Musa who is the party’s Nasarawa State Chairman stated that ‘’We, the authentic State Chairmen of the Social Democratic Party (SDP), under the umbrella of the SDP State Chairmen Forum, have been compelled to issue this press release to debunk the suspension of Alhaji Shehu Gabam as National Chairman of the SDP.
He stated that the spurious claims was made by the Acting Chairman of the Lagos State Chapter of SDP, Femi Olaniyi.
Contrary to the false narrative peddled by Mr. Olaniyi, the Acting Chairman of Lagos State, “we wish to inform the general public that the National Chairman of our great party remains unaffected by the purported suspension.”
“The Acting Chairman of Lagos State, along with the 24 individuals he claims to represent, lack the locus standi to take such a decision’’., he stated.
Mr Musa further explained that the SDP Constitution is clear on the procedures for disciplining any member of the party, including the National Chairman in which any such action must be preceded by a thorough investigation by a duly constituted panel, followed by a National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting and None of these procedures were followed in this instance, rendering the purported suspension a mere nullity.
‘’We, the authentic State Chairmen of the SDP, reaffirm our unwavering support for the National Chairman and the leadership of our great party.” The Nasarawa State Chairman stated.
He added that “We urge all members of the party and the general public to disregard the false claims made by the Acting Chairman of Lagos State and his cohorts’’.
