Supporters from diverse communities across Anambra State have rallied behind Ozo Jeff Nweke, the Action Alliance (AA) governorship candidate, ahead of the November 8, 2025 election, signaling a rare unity in the state’s political landscape.

The grand declaration ceremony, held Thursday  in Awka, drew a massive crowd comprising party officials, traditional rulers, youth and women’s groups, and representatives of indigenous and non-indigenous communities from all 21 local government areas.

Nweke, a respected Awka indigene and community leader, was officially presented as the AA flagbearer, with his biography introduction notably highlighting his popular street moniker, “the Nigga,” which sparked enthusiastic applause and chants. This nickname, reflecting his grassroots appeal, energized the gathering.

Speakers from various ethnic and political backgrounds praised Nweke’s inclusive leadership and vision. Representatives of the Yoruba and Hausa communities expressed strong support, emphasizing his reputation for treating all residents as equals and fostering grassroots development. Alhaji Musa Abdullahi, a Hausa leader, remarked, “He doesn’t see us as strangers. He has stood by us in times of need, and we will stand by him.”

Youth leaders highlighted Nweke’s impactful scholarship and economic empowerment programs, noting that over 5,000 young people have benefited.

He’s not just a politician; he’s our helper, our voice,” said one youth leader from Onitsha. Women’s groups also commended his efforts to improve security, particularly in Awka, with one leader stating, “We can now sleep with both eyes closed.”

In a notable display of reconciliation, residents of Enugwu-Agidi acknowledged Nweke’s successful mediation in longstanding land disputes, crediting him with restoring peace and safeguarding lives.

In his address, Nweke reaffirmed his commitment to inclusive governance, peace, and sustainable development. “This is not just a campaign. This is a movement for dignity, progress, and the rebirth of our dear Anambra,” he declared.

He vowed to tackle insecurity decisively and prioritize youth employment through sustainable economic opportunities.

“My mission is simple: to wipe away the tears of hunger, unemployment, and deprivation from our people. I am coming to bring succour to the forgotten and the voiceless,” Nweke said.
