CBCN Extends Condolence to Presidency on Late President Buhari

The Catholic Bishops’ Conference of Nigeria (CBCN) has extended condolences to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and the nation following the death of former President Muhammadu Buhari.

In a letter dated 14 July and signed by the CBCN President, Archbishop Lucius Ugorji, the bishops conveyed their sympathies to the presidency, Buhari’s family, and the entire Nigerian populace.

The body entrusted the soul of the former president to the infinite mercy of God and pray for comfort for his family, loved ones, the Government, and the good people of Nigeria.

Personal integrity

The CBCN also emphasised that President Buhari’s passing is a solemn reminder of life’s transience, urging all Nigerians, especially those in power, to reflect deeply on personal integrity and service to the common good.

Archbishop Ugorji further noted. that this moment of national loss should inspire all to deeper reflection on the value of life.

The bishops prayed for divine guidance and lasting peace, unity, and progress in Nigeria.
