The Special Assistant on Media and Strategy to the Honourable Minister of State for Health and Social Welfare, Agba’kin Wale Junaid, has paid a glowing tribute to Dr Iziaq Salako on the occasion of his 58th birthday, describing him as a rare personality, a mentor, and an administrator of exceptional calibre.

In a statement marking the celebration, Junaid said Dr Salako’s career stands as a testament to principled leadership at a time when selfless service is often overshadowed by personal ambition.

He commended the minister’s integrity, vision, and unwavering dedication to public service, noting that such qualities are increasingly scarce in contemporary governance.

Born in Ayetoro, Yewa North Local Government Area of Ogun State, Dr Salako began his leadership journey as Secretary of the Students’ Representative Council at Abeokuta Grammar School before taking on various leadership positions at the University of Lagos.

His distinguished public service record includes serving as Commissioner for Agriculture, Housing, and Health in Ogun State; Chairman of the Ogun State Hospital Management Board; Minister of State in the Federal Ministry of Environment; and currently, Minister of State for Health and Social Welfare.

According to Junaid, Dr Salako has redefined public service through his commitment to equity, innovation, and uplifting the less privileged.

“With the wisdom of a scholar, the courage of a reformer, and the compassion of a servant-leader, he has shaped policies and engineered futures, inspiring a generation to believe in ethical leadership and meaningful progress,” Junaid said.

He further described the minister as an administrator whose humility, civility, and empathy distinguish him, adding that he never bruises the egos of his subordinates and is always considerate, compassionate, and supportive.

“Dr Salako is a torchbearer and a shining example of how best to contribute one’s quota to community and humanity,” Junaid added.

“His service is defined by the use of his time, treasure, talent, and connections to uplift people without noisy distractions or self-promotion.”

Junaid also expressed personal gratitude for the mentorship he has received, stating that working under Dr Salako has significantly enriched his knowledge, capacity, and professional skills.

As he turns 58, colleagues, associates, and members of his community have joined in celebrating Dr Salako’s life of service above self, describing him as a leader whose character, competence, and compassion continue to inspire many.

Happy 58th Birthday to the Honourable Minister of State for Health and Social Welfare.
