Nigeria Crushes Defending AfroBasket Champions Tunisia By 21

In a stunning display of dominance, Nigeria’s senior men’s basketball team delivered a resounding 87-66 victory against defending FIBA AfroBasket champions, Tunisia, securing a commanding 21-point win in this year’s edition.

The highly anticipated clash at the Pavilhao Multiusos de Luanda in Angola, saw both teams start with intensity. But it was Nigeria’s D’Tigers who quickly asserted control, showcasing superior offensive firepower and relentless defensive pressure.

D’Tigers showed its superiority early in the game and were 29-16 ahead at the end of the first quarter. Nigeria the  resumed their cruise control in the second quarter, and they stretched the lead to 48-33 by halftime.

Nigeria maintained its intensity throughout the third quarter, outscoring Tunisia with the scoreline at 68-47 at the end. Tunisia, known for their resilience and tactical prowess, struggled to find answers to Nigeria’s energetic performance.

Despite their best efforts, the defending champions were unable to close the significant point gap. The fourth quarter saw Nigeria close out the game to secure the a 21-point victory.

The result was Nigeria’s second consecutive win in the tournament ,after defeating Madagascar in their opening match on Wednesday.

Houston Rockets shooting guard, Josh Okogie, lead the team with a career-high 33 points.

D’Tigers extended its brilliant form in the tournament and will conclude their group stage fixtures against Cameroon on Sunday.

Nigeria have won the men’s Afrobasket title just once in 2015. D’Tigers have, however, finished as runners-up three (3) times.
