The Royal Moroccan Table Tennis Federation (RMTTF) has expressed confidence in the country’s preparations to host the 2026 ITTF Africa Championships in Tangier from 18 to 25 October.
Players from nearly 30 African countries are expected to compete for continental titles and qualification places for the 2027 World Championships.
RMTTF President Anas Ziaty said Morocco was honoured to stage the continental tournament, describing it as an opportunity to strengthen cooperation among African table tennis associations.
“Morocco is proud of its African identity and delighted to host this major event. We look forward to strengthening cooperation, exchanging expertise and working together for the development of our sport in Africa,” Ziaty said.
The eight-day championships will bring together players, coaches, officials and delegations from across the continent, with qualification places for the 2027 ITTF World Championships Finals in Astana, Kazakhstan also at stake.
Ziaty said the federation was working to provide suitable facilities and arrangements for athletes and officials throughout the competition.
“We are committed to providing the best conditions for your stay, competition and overall experience. We hope you will also enjoy the beauty, culture and hospitality of Tangier and take home wonderful memories from Morocco,” he added.

Morocco will be aiming to capitalise on home advantage as its players compete against some of Africa’s leading table tennis stars.
The hosts will also be seeking to build on their men’s team bronze medal from the previous championships.
Alongside experienced players, Morocco is expected to field emerging talents who will have an opportunity to test themselves against established competitors on the continental stage.
The 2026 tournament marks Morocco’s return as host of the ITTF Africa Championships, 10 years after the country staged the competition in Agadir in 2016.
Ziaty acknowledged the support of Morocco’s sports authorities, government stakeholders and corporate partners in preparations for the event.
“Let us make Tangier 2026 a true celebration of African table tennis — a tournament of excellence, fair play and stronger partnerships for a brighter future,” he said.
The championships will run from 18 to 25 October, with continental honours and qualification opportunities for the 2027 World Championships among the major prizes.
