The Anambra State Information and Communication Technology (ICT) Agency has reaffirmed its commitment to fostering a digitally inclusive environment, ensuring that Persons with Disabilities (PWDs) can seamlessly access and benefit from government services.
This commitment was highlighted in a statement issued by the Agency’s Public Relations Officer, Angela Nwanodu, during an advocacy visit by the Anambra State Disability Rights Commission (ADRC) in partnership with the Rule of Law and Anti-Corruption (RoLAC) programme.
Addressing the delegation, Managing Director and CEO of the ICT Agency, Chukwuemeka Agbata, emphasized the administration of Governor Charles Soludo’s resolve to make governance accessible to all citizens, including PWDs.
He noted that deliberate inclusion is a cornerstone of the Governor’s technology-driven agenda for the state, exemplified by the recent provision of a broad array of digital tools to enhance the productivity of the Commission.
“Technology’s true impact is realized only when it serves everyone, irrespective of physical ability. We are dedicated to eliminating digital barriers and ensuring all residents of Anambra State can access our platforms without hindrance,” Agbata stated.
Further outlining the Agency’s action plan, Agbata revealed the imminent appointment of a Disability Desk Officer. The Agency will also collaborate closely with the ADRC to guarantee that all government ICT platforms comply with accessibility standards and will integrate PWD-friendly features into ongoing upgrades of the SolutionLens feedback system.
The visit included presentations by ADRC’s Head of ICT, Mr. Bonaventure Umeokwonna, who detailed the Commission’s strategic priorities, alongside RoLAC representatives who reaffirmed their support for capacity building and policy enhancement for inclusive governance.
Concluding the visit, Mr. Valentine Nwachukwu, Head of Planning, Research, and Statistics at ADRC, expressed gratitude for the ICT Agency’s willingness to collaborate in advancing digital accessibility.
The Anambra State ICT Agency continues to partner with various ministries, departments, and agencies, driving the state’s digital transformation agenda with a firm focus on inclusivity, ensuring no community is marginalized.
