The Nigerian Medical Association (NMA), Kaduna State Branch, has praised Governor Uba Sani for approving the full implementation of the Consolidated Medical Salary Structure (CONMESS) for doctors on the state payroll.

The Association described the approval for 100 per cent implementation of the 2024 CONMESS in the state as highly commendable.

This was contained in a statement signed by the state chairman, Dr Hassan Bala Salihu, at the end of its Annual General Meeting held in Kaduna between 11 and 13 September 2025.

Applauding the government’s strategic policies aimed at strengthening the health sector, the NMA noted that the state has upgraded several general hospitals.

According to the statement, the upgrades include the construction of two oxygen plants, the reconstruction of numerous Primary Health Centres (PHCs), and the completion and commissioning of the 300-bed capacity hospital at Millennium City, among other projects.

The NMA also highlighted that Kaduna is the first state in the country to pay the 2025 Medical Residency Training Fund (MRTF) to resident doctors, while also commending the improvement in hazard allowance for healthcare workers.

The Association stressed that these measures reflect a forward-looking strategy to retain healthcare manpower in the state.
