The National Information Technology Development Agency (NITDA) and the Nigeria Governors’ Forum (NGF) have pledged to accelerate Nigeria’s digital transformation and deepen IT penetration across all states, with the aim of promoting digital innovation and development at the sub-national level.
This commitment was reached when the Director-General of NITDA, Kashifu Inuwa Abdullahi, led his management team on a courtesy visit to the Director-General of the NGF, Dr Abdulateef Shittu, in Abuja.

During the engagement, Abdullahi outlined some of NITDA’s flagship initiatives, including the Digital Literacy for All (DL4ALL) programme, which seeks to integrate digital education into schools nationwide.
He also reiterated NITDA’s readiness to collaborate with the NGF on cybersecurity and broader digital transformation initiatives to ensure that every state benefits from the country’s expanding digital economy.

In his response, Dr Shittu welcomed the partnership and reaffirmed the Forum’s commitment to supporting state-level ICT reforms through peer learning, reform missions, and coordinated Digital Public Infrastructure (DPI) frameworks between the federal and state governments.

He further stressed the need to recognise and celebrate states that are championing innovative digital reforms and setting benchmarks for others to emulate.
The partnership between NITDA and the NGF marks a significant step towards accelerating digital growth and inclusive development across Nigeria’s states, in line with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda — particularly its emphasis on economic diversification through industrialisation, digitisation, creative industries, manufacturing, and innovation — while advancing reforms for sustainable and inclusive national progress.
