The Kano Agricultural Supply Company (KASCO) has remitted ₦200.4 million to the State Government, representing 60% of its 2024 annual profit.

The development is a landmark achievement marking the Company’s first profit remittance in over 10 years.

According to a statement issued by the Governor’s Spokesperson, Sanusi Bature, the presentation was made by the Managing Director of KASCO, Kabiru Sani Yakubu, to Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf during the 33rd State Executive Council meeting at the Government House, Kano North-West Nigeria.

Mr Yakubu said that the company recorded a total profit of ₦334 million for the 2024 fiscal year, the highest since its establishment in 1991, attributing the turnaround to improved corporate governance, operational reforms, and strong government backing.

Governor Yusuf commended the management for restoring KASCO’s profitability, describing the development as a model for revitalising public enterprises nationwide.

He reiterated his administration’s resolve to transform state-owned institutions into viable economic contributors that support both local farmers and Nigeria’s broader agricultural value chain.

“This milestone demonstrates that with transparency, accountability, and the right leadership, public institutions can thrive and compete effectively in today’s agribusiness environment,” Governor Yusuf said.

The Governor added that the state’s economic recovery efforts align with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s national agenda for food security, rural empowerment, and sustainable development.

KASCO, established over three decades ago, plays a vital role in supplying fertilisers, seeds, and farm inputs across northern Nigeria, contributing to the nation’s agricultural productivity and food security goals.
