Minister Urges Newly Appointed Ambassadors to Defend Nigeria’s Interests

The Nigerian Minister of Foreign Affairs, Ambassador Yusuf Tuggar, has emphasised the changing dynamics of global politics, the need for
strategic diplomacy, and the responsibility each envoy bears in promoting and defending Nigeria’s interests abroad.

Ambassador Tuggar stated this at the presentation of letters of
Credence to the newly appointed Permanent Representative of Nigeria to
ECOWAS and other consulate offices ain Abuja.

The Minister highlighted the “importance of analytical capacity,
resilience, and professionalism in addressing contemporary
geopolitical challenges”.

Speaking during the ceremony, the Spokesperson of the Foreign Affairs
Ministry, Mr Kimiebi Ebienfa, underscored the significance of the
event as a reaffirmation of Nigeria’s commitment to effective
representation worldwide.

Ambassador Tuggar, presented letters of Credence to the Nigerian
Permanent Representative to ECOWAS, Ambassador Olawale Awe, the
Nigerian Consul General, Guangzhou, China, Ambassador Mairo Abbas,
Consul General, Johannesburg, South Africa, Ambassador N.O.
Okey-Uche, Consul General, Buea, Cameroon, Ambassador Ojo Steve and
Charge D’Affaires, Tripoli, Libya, Ambassador Samalia Goni.

Responding on behalf of the appointees, the new Permanent
Representative to ECOWAS, Ambassador Awe expressed gratitude to
President Bola Tinubu and the Ministry for the confidence reposed in
the new appointees, “pledging dedication, loyalty, and diligent
service in advancing Nigeria’s foreign policy objectives”.
