The House of Representatives Adhoc Committee investigating alleged discrepancies in the gazetted Tax Reform Acts has resolved to conclude its assignment and submit its report to the House within the shortest possible time.
The committee, chaired by Muktar Aliyu Betara, held its inaugural meeting houae of repshouseto deliberate on a Privilege Matter raised at plenary over inconsistencies between laws passed by the National Assembly and their gazetted versions.
Members agreed to expedite the investigation and report promptly to safeguard legislative integrity, uphold due process, and reinforce public confidence in the lawmaking process.
Reaffirming the committee’s commitment to transparency and diligence, the chairman assured that its findings and recommendations would be presented to the House immediately upon completion of the assignment.
The Adhoc Committee was constituted to ensure clarity, accuracy, and full conformity between legislation duly passed by the National Assembly and the gazetted tax reforms, in line with constitutional provisions and established legislative standards.
