The Governor of Anambra State, Professor Chukwuma Soludo, has extended warm Christmas greetings to Christians in the state and across Nigeria, urging them to embrace the core values of love, compassion and unity as they celebrate the season and prepare for the New Year.

In a goodwill message issued on Thursday, through his Press Secretary, Mr Christian Aburime, the governor described Christmas as a powerful reminder of the enduring values symbolised by the birth of Jesus Christ, hope, peace, love and redemption which, he said, align with the collective aspiration for a better society and a stronger nation.

Governor Soludo called on Christians to look beyond the festivities and reflect on the deeper meaning of the season by demonstrating kindness and generosity, particularly towards the less privileged in their communities.

“Christmas transcends celebration; it is a profound call to reflect on the virtues of compassion, selflessness and unity that defined the life and teachings of Christ,” the statement quoted the governor as saying.

He noted that, “Acts of charity and solidarity during the season help to strengthen social bonds and foster a sense of shared humanity. According to him, supporting the needy and offering hope to the despairing reflect the true spirit of Christmas and contribute to a more inclusive society.”

The governor also invited residents and visitors to participate in Onwa D’Zemba, Anambra State’s flagship end-of-year cultural and entertainment programme, which features a range of festive activities across the state.

In addition, Soludo urged Nigerians to remember the country in their prayers, calling for peace, prosperity and sustained progress. He also appealed for divine guidance for leaders at all levels to enable them to govern with wisdom and vision.

Reassuring residents and visitors of adequate security during the festive period, the governor wished everyone a peaceful Christmas and a prosperous New Year marked by good health, renewed hope and abundant blessings
