The Ebonyi State Government has vowed to deal with motorists who shall henceforth be caught loading along any road in the city.
This will help to ensure decorum and decency in Abakaliki, the capital City and to stop motorists who are unlawfully loading passengers at undesignated motor parks.
The State Commissioner for Capital City Development, Onyekachi Nwebonyi disclosed this to Journalists after a meeting with motorists including tipper drivers.
Nwebonyi warned the motorists to desist from loading or parking vehicles along the road.
“As from 16th August, 2021 all motor parks in the town should move to Ebonyi Central Park, opposite St. Magarat Umahi International market Abakaliki”
“Henceforth, any motorists found loading or parking along the road will be arrested and prosecuted and if found guilty shall be jailed in accordance with the law,” Nwebonyi disclosed.
He said the essence of the meeting was to create awareness to avoid taking motorists unawares.
“No food vendor should be seen along the roads to help make the state traffic Free, making our roads Free of traffic would also help to checkmate insecurity in the State,” he said.
He advised Developers to always get their building permits from the Ministry before erecting any structure.
Also, the State Commissioner for motor parks Development and Management, Pastor Eze Nwachukwu advised the motorists to heed to the instructions given by the Ministries.
He said disobeying the laws would attract wrath of Government.
