A chieftein of the All Progressives Congress, APC in Gombe State, and former gubernatorial aspirant of the People’s Democratic Party, (PDP), Dr. Jamilu Gwamna, has lauded the APC’s ongoing electronic registration and revalidation exercise.
Dr. Gwamna described it as a critical innovation capable of strengthening security in Gombe State and across Nigeria.
He made this assertion while addressing journalists during a visit to the APC State Secretariat in Gombe, where he said the e-registration initiative goes beyond party administration and represents a strategic contribution to national security architecture.
According to him, the exercise will create a reliable and comprehensive database of party members, capturing vital personal and residential information that could assist authorities in identifying individuals and supporting security planning.
“The APC e-registration system captures detailed data about individuals, including where they reside. This is a major step forward. Such a structured database can complement security efforts and help address some of the challenges facing our country,” he said.
Dr. Gwamna described the e-registration as a forward-thinking initiative by the APC leadership, noting that it would not only strengthen internal party organisation, but also promote accountability and safety at the grassroots level.
He explained that his visit to the party secretariat was aimed at encouraging APC leaders, executives and members to fully embrace the exercise and ensure its success across the state.
Dr. Gwamna also expressed support for Governor Muhammadu Yahaya’s drive to mobilise more citizens to register and revalidate their membership.
The party chieftein urged party officials to work collectively to ensure that the registration reaches every community in the state, stressing that effective implementation would enhance both party growth and security coordination.
Support
Dr. Gwamna further demonstrated his support by donating ₦10 million to the APC in Gombe State and an additional ₦11 million to the party’s 11 local government chapters, with each local government receiving ₦1 million.
He said the donations were meant to strengthen logistics for the e-registration and encourage wider participation.
Commending Governor Yahaya for his leadership, Dr. Gwamna called on APC members to turn out in large numbers to revalidate their membership.
He noted that a credible and technology-driven registration process would help position the APC as a model for political organisation and security consciousness in Nigeria.
After leaving the APC Secretariat, Dr. Gwamna proceeded to his party ward in Jekadafari, Gombe Metropolis, where he revalidated his party membership and made a donation of ₦1.5 million.
