Ogun State Governor, Dapo Abiodun, has inaugurated the All Progressives Congress (APC) Campaign Council for the 2027 General Elections, directing members to begin immediate grassroots consultations and mobilisation across the state.
The inauguration, held on Thursday, 17 September 2026, at the June 12 Cultural Centre in Abeokuta, marks a major step in the party’s preparations for the elections, as the campaign Council is tasked with coordinating its presidential, governorship and legislative campaigns across Ogun State.
Abiodun, who chairs the Ogun APC Campaign Council, directed members to translate the party’s campaign structure into sustained engagement across the 20 Local Government Areas, 236 wards and polling units in the state.
The Governor said successful election campaigns require deliberate planning, organisation, vigilance, and continuous engagement with voters, rather than relying solely on political reputation or large rallies.
Abiodun urged the Council to take the party’s message to markets, farms, workplaces, religious communities, professional associations, and residential areas, while listening to residents and responding to their concerns.

The Governor stated: “Our campaign must be based on ideas, achievements and a credible vision. We must reach every Local Government Area, ward, polling unit and community.”
He directed the Council to work for all APC candidates, including President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, the party’s Ogun governorship candidate, Solomon Olamilekan Adeola, his running mate, Kudirat Adegunwa-Balogun, and candidates contesting the Senate, House of Representatives and State House of Assembly seats.
Abiodun called for unity and discipline within the party, urging members to place collective interests above individual differences.
He said, “Unity is not the absence of differences. It is wisdom to ensure that our differences do not become greater than our common cause. Let us speak with one voice, work with one purpose and march in one direction.”
The Governor cautioned members against treating their appointments as ceremonial, describing them instead as positions of responsibility requiring discipline, humility and strategic thinking.
He tasked the campaign organisation with communicating the administration’s record in infrastructure, education, healthcare, agriculture, security, investment promotion and social interventions, urging the council to respond to misinformation with facts and clarity.
Abiodun highlighted the Gateway International Airport and other infrastructure and investment projects as part of the administration’s development agenda, saying the campaign should explain their relevance to residents and the wider economy.
He noted: “Good work that is not effectively explained may be misunderstood, while falsehood repeated without challenge may begin to appear credible.”
Abiodun called for an issue-based and peaceful campaign, warning against factionalism, violence, intimidation, indiscipline and sabotage.
The APC Governorship Candidate, Olamilekan Adeola, urged party members to regard the 2027 election as a collective responsibility, assuring those not included in the Campaign Council that they remained part of the party’s grassroots mobilisation structure.
Adeola called for sustained consultations in wards and Local Government Areas, pledged that his campaign would focus on issues and projects affecting the lives of residents.
He urged the committees to work together in support of all APC candidates, from the presidential to the governorship and legislative elections.
Earlier, former Ogun State Governor and Grand Patron of the Campaign Council, Olusegun Osoba, appealed to aggrieved members to put aside their differences and work together for the party, urging members to “sheathe their swords” and ensure that the Campaign Council remained focused on its mandate.
The Campaign Council is headed by Governor Abiodun as Chairman, while Lekan Mustapha serves as Director-General. The structure brings together prominent APC figures and grassroots organisers as the party begins its state-wide mobilisation ahead of the 2027 elections.
The Council comprises party leaders, strategists, professionals and grassroots organisers, with committees covering strategy, mobilisation, reconciliation, finance, security, media, youth and women affairs, welfare, transportation, digital communication, protocol, and traditional and religious engagement.
The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has scheduled the presidential and National Assembly elections for 20 February 2027, while the governorship and State House of Assembly elections will be held on 6 March 2027.
