Christian leaders, traditional rulers, elders and worshippers converged in Kafanchan, Kaduna state at the weekend for the 2026 Southern Kaduna Prayer Summit, to strategise on achieving peace, security, unity and socio-economic development in the region.

Addressing the summit, the outgoing Chairman of the Southern Kaduna Christian Leaders Association (SKCLA), Apostle Dr. Emmanuel Kure urged the Church to rise to the responsibility of protecting its assets and congregations, particularly during church services.

Apostle Kure also called on relevant authorities and security agencies to hasten efforts towards securing the release of all abducted victims.

The outgoing chairman also appreciated the Christendom in Southern Kaduna for the support and cooperation extended to him and members of his executive throughout their five-year tenure, urging similar support for the incoming leadership to enable it succeed.

Delivering a goodwill message on behalf of political leaders in the area, the Member representing Jema’a and Sanga Federal Constituency at the National Assembly, Mr. Daniel Amos, assured that political leaders at all levels would continue to collaborate with religious and traditional institutions to address security challenges and foster development.

He also commended the Church for its stabilising role in promoting peace, moral values and unity in Southern Kaduna.

Address Security

He gave assurance that political leaders across all levels would continue to collaborate with religious and traditional institutions to address security challenges and foster development.

The summit further witnessed prayers offered by traditional rulers and elders of the land, who called on God to bless Southern Kaduna with industrial investments, particularly the siting of industries in the region to create jobs, reduce poverty and enhance economic growth.

A major highlight of the event was a tribute by Professor Sunday Agang in honour of Apostle Dr. Emmanuel Nuhu Kure and the outgoing SKCLA executive.

Moral Courage

In the tribute, Professor Agang described the past five years of leadership as a remarkable chapter in the history of the association, marked by vision, integrity, moral courage, spiritual depth and selfless service.

He noted that under Apostle Kure’s leadership, SKCLA grew in credibility, relevance and moral authority, emerging as a trusted platform for unity, advocacy and principled engagement.

The summit also featured the presentation of new executive committee of SKCLA, with the Catholic Bishop of Kafanchan Diocese, His Lordship Most Reverend Julius Yakubu Kundi, emerging as Chairman for the next five years.

Activities at the prayer summit included Bible recitation, music ministrations and parade competitions, with winners receiving cash gifts donated by the outgoing executive.

The 2026 Southern Kaduna Prayer Summit ended with prayers for lasting peace, improved security and sustainable development across Southern Kaduna and Kaduna State at large.
