FCT Decides: INEC Distributes Sensitive Materials to Polling Units

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), has distributed the FCT Council Election sensitive materials to various polling units in the six area councils of the territory.

Sensitive materials for the elections left the Central Bank of Nigeria CBN on Thursday for all the INEC offices in six Area Councils and on Friday at the Registration Area Councils of INEC where they were distributed on Saturday morning for the conduct of the elections.

The elections commenced this morning at 8.30 am local time with simultaneous accreditation and voting process using the Bimodal Voter Accreditation System (BVAS).

The voting will continue till 4 pm local time when the accreditation will stop but the last person already accredited and already in the line will be allowed to vote even after 4pm.

I.5 million registered voters are expected to participate in the elections that would produce Chairmen and Councillors in the area Councils and wards.

The declaration of results for the Councillorship will take place at the INEC Registration Area Councils (RAC), while that of the chairmanship will be collated and the winner will be declared at the INEC headquarters in all six Area Councils later in the day, depending on the early arrival of results from the Registration Area Councils of the INEC.

INEC officials with voting materials were escorted by the Nigeria Police Force to the various polling units where the materials will be shown to the party agents and other observers before the commencement of the voting.

The electorates and party agents are expected to conduct themselves properly to ensure the smooth and successful conduct of the elections.
