President Bola Tinubu has decorated the newly appointed Acting Inspector-General of Police, Tunji Disu, with his new rank at the State House, Abuja.
The decoration took place during an expanded swearing-in ceremony held at about 3:00 p.m. local time on Wednesday and attended by Top government officials.
With the swearing-in of the Lagos state born 59- year old officer as Acting IGP, Disu becomes Nigeria’s 23rd Inspector-General of Police.
Disu arrived at the Presidential Villa at approximately 2:50 p.m. local time on Wednesday for the ceremony and a brief meeting with President Tinubu, marking a significant transition in the leadership of the Nigeria Police Force.

His appointment follows the exit of the former Inspector-General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun, whose resignation was confirmed on Tuesday.
In a statement issued by the Presidential Spokesperson, Mr Bayo Onanuga, President Tinubu approved Egbetokun’s resignation after he submitted a letter citing pressing family considerations
Present at the decoration ceremony of the Acting Inspector-General of Police were the National Security Adviser, Mallam Nuhu Ribadu, the Brigade Commander, and other senior security officials.
The parents of Tunji Disu were also in attendance. The immediate past IGP, Kayode Egbetokun, was also in attendance.
