Nigeria’s electric mobility sector recorded a new development this week as NEV Electric Motors unveiled the NEV T3, an electric van designed for urban transportation and logistics.
Speaking at the launch in Abuja, the company’s Founder and Chief Executive Officer, Mr Mosope Olaosebikan, said the vehicle was developed to address transportation challenges in African cities and to improve operational efficiency for transport operators.
“The NEV T3 was engineered with African road and operating conditions in mind. Our experience with the NEV T6 showed that electric mobility can function effectively in Nigerian cities, and with the T3, we have refined the technology to deliver greater efficiency, reliability and sustainability for passenger transport, corporate mobility and urban logistics,” he said.
The company stated that the T3 builds on its earlier model, the NEV T6, which was introduced into selected urban transport routes. According to NEV Electric Motors, operators using the T6 have reported lower operating costs due to its electric drivetrain.
The T3 runs on an electric powertrain, eliminating tailpipe emissions and reducing routine maintenance associated with internal combustion engines.
The company also disclosed that it is expanding electric vehicle charging infrastructure in selected locations to support adoption, with charging points being established along key urban corridors.

Industry stakeholders say the pace of electric mobility growth in Nigeria will depend on infrastructure availability, cost competitiveness and supportive policies. While electric vehicles can reduce operating expenses and urban air pollution, broader adoption will require sustained investment in power supply and charging networks.
The unveiling comes amid increasing interest in cleaner transportation solutions, as public and private sector actors examine options for reducing emissions and improving urban mobility efficiency.
