The Odi-Olowo/Ojuwoye Local Council Development Area (LCDA) in Lagos State has partnered with the Best of Nollywood (BON) Awards to organise a three-day creative development training programme for youths in the community.

The initiative, aimed at empowering young people within the LCDA, will provide hands-on training in acting, directing, scriptwriting and film production, positioning participants for opportunities in Nigeria’s growing film industry.

BON Executive Producer, Feranmi Olaoye, disclosed this in a statement issued on Thursday in Lagos, noting that the programme underscores the LCDA’s commitment to grassroots development and youth empowerment.

She explained that participants would benefit from mentorship and industry insights from established Nollywood professionals, including Biodun Stephens, Jide Awobona and Judith Audu.

According to Olaoye, the initiative is designed to equip youths in Odi-Olowo/Ojuwoye LCDA with practical skills and relevant industry knowledge, while opening them up to career opportunities in the creative sector.

“This initiative will create opportunities for young people to express themselves through Nollywood.
“We are not only training them, but helping them build sustainable careers in the creative industry,” she said.

She further noted that the programme specifically targets young people within the LCDA who have a passion for storytelling but limited access to formal training.

The training is scheduled to hold from March 25 to March 28 and is expected to position participants from Odi-Olowo/Ojuwoye LCDA for opportunities within Nollywood and beyond.
