Nigeria-EU to Hold 8th Ministerial Dialogue In Abuja

Nigeria’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs has announced its readiness to host the eighth Nigeria–European Union Ministerial Dialogue on Monday, March 23, 2026, in Abuja, Nigeria.

The Nigeria–EU Ministerial Dialogue will provide a platform for discussions on trade and investment, security cooperation, governance, migration, climate action and sustainable development, while reinforcing the growing strategic partnership between Nigeria and the European Union.

According to a press statement signed by the spokesperson of the ministry, Kimiebi Imomotimi Ebienfa, the minister of foreign affairs, Yusuf Maitama Tuggar, will lead the Nigerian delegation, while the European Union delegation will be headed by Kaja Kallas, who also serves as vice-president of the European Commission.

The ministry disclosed that Kallas is expected to arrive in Abuja on Sunday ahead of the meeting, where she will hold a bilateral session with Tuggar aimed at reviewing Nigeria–EU relations and strengthening cooperation across key sectors.

The EU High Representative is also scheduled to pay a courtesy visit to Vice President Kashim Shettima at the Presidential Villa, Abuja, as part of high-level engagements to deepen diplomatic ties between Nigeria and the European Union.

According to the ministry, both parties will hold a joint press briefing after the ministerial meeting to communicate the outcomes of the dialogue and outline areas of expanded cooperation.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs further reiterates Nigeria’s commitment to strengthening its partnership with the European Union and looks forward to a productive and forward-looking engagement.
