The Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant General Waidi Shaibu has led a high-level, multi-agency security assessment to Plateau State, signalling an intensified, coordinated push to stabilise the state and restore public confidence amid ongoing tensions.

Generali Shaibu conducted the on-the-spot assessment in Jos alongside heads of security agencies, as part of a broader effort to recalibrate operations and reinforce joint responses to emerging threats.

On arrival, the Chief of Army Staff was received by the Governor of Plateau State, Caleb Mutfwang, underscoring a convergence between military operations and state-level political authority in managing the crisis.

A detailed operational briefing was delivered by the General Officer Commanding 3 Division and Commander, Joint Task Force Operation ENDURING PEACE, Major General Folusho Oyinlola, outlining current deployments, threat patterns, and inter-agency coordination mechanisms aimed at containing violence and protecting communities.

Beyond command-level engagements, the Army Chief interfaced directly with community leaders and residents, using the visit to reinforce assurance and manage public sentiment.

He urged compliance with existing curfew measures and called for sustained civilian cooperation with security agencies, positioning local intelligence and community alignment as critical to operational success.

Grassroots authorities framed the visit as a confidence-building intervention.

The Chairman of Jos North Local Government Area, Hon. Dachung Bagos, said the presence of top military leadership would reinforce trust in ongoing operations, while Councillor Hon. Ladi Dangyok described the move as a timely reassurance to affected communities.

The deployment of senior military leadership to the theatre reflects a shift from routine operations to direct oversight, suggesting heightened federal attention and a possible recalibration of tactics under Operation ENDURING PEACE.

The emphasis on inter-agency synergy indicates recognition that the Plateau security challenge requires a unified civil-military approach rather than isolated force application.

Security operations are expected to intensify with strengthened coordination between the Nigerian Army, other security agencies, and the Plateau State Government, focusing on restoring stability, preventing escalation, and rebuilding community trust.
