President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has arrived in Lagos State to observe the Good Friday holiday after departing Jos, Plateau State, where he commiserated with victims and families affected by the recent deadly attack in Angwan Rukuba, which claimed 29 lives and left many others injured.
The President’s aircraft touched down at about 7:20 p.m. on Thursday, at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport, where he was received by Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu alongside other top government officials and dignitaries.
President Tinubu’s arrival in Lagos follows a condolence and security assessment visit to Plateau State, during which he met with bereaved families, past Governors of the state, traditional leaders, and senior government officials, while also directing security agencies to track down and apprehend those behind the killings.
In jos the Nigerian Leader promised families affected by the attacks at the meeting held at the arrival lounge at Yakubu Gowon Airport that the experience will not repeat itself.
While in Lagos, the President is expected to commission key infrastructure projects executed by the administration of Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu as part of activities lined up for the Easter period.
The projects scheduled for inauguration include the iconic Ojota/Opebi Link Bridge, the Lagos State Geographic Information System Building, a Multi-Agency Complex named after President Tinubu, and a school complex.
A statement by the Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, Mr. Bayo Onanuga, had earlier disclosed that President Tinubu will, on Saturday, April 4, travel to Ogun State for the commissioning of the Gateway International Cargo Airport and the inauguration of two commercial aircraft designated for the export and import of goods, in a move aimed at boosting the state’s economic growth.
The President is also expected to inaugurate the new headquarters of the Federal Operations Unit of the Nigeria Customs Service, along with a fleet of operational vehicles.
He will subsequently return to Lagos to continue the Easter holiday before proceeding to Bayelsa State on April 10 to commission completed projects executed by the administration of Governor Douye Diri, ahead of his return to Abuja.
