Troops of Operation ENDURING PEACE have conducted a series of coordinated clearance operations across Plateau State, disrupting emerging terrorist corridors and exposing a widening rural threat network spanning forest enclaves and transit routes.
Operating under the wider mandate of Operation WUTAN DAJI, the troops conducted targeted offensives in Wase and Shendam Local Government Areas, combining kinetic action with intelligence-led interdictions to dismantle insurgent footholds and disrupt arms movement.
According to the Media Information Officer, Joint Task Force Operation ENDURING PEACE, Captain Chinonso Polycarp Oteh, the operations were executed in partnership with local vigilantes, focusing on known insurgent corridors within the Dutsen Zaki forest axis.
“Troops neutralised two suspected terrorists during a firefight along the Babangida–Adua road, while others fled into the forest with gunshot wounds.”
He said a subsequent sweep led to the recovery of weapons and ammunition, including a locally fabricated firearm, a belt containing 105 rounds of 7.62mm PKT ammunition, and additional rounds of 7.62mm special ammunition.

In a separate intelligence-driven operation in Namu District of Qua’an Pan Local Government Area, troops intercepted four suspected terrorists linked to arms movement, recovering 100 rounds of 7.62mm ammunition.
“During follow-on action to dismantle the suspects’ hideout, troops came under heavy fire from terrorist associates, leading to a chaotic exchange in which three of the suspects were killed by their own group while attempting to escape.”
The operations extended to Shendam, where troops working with local residents apprehended a suspected kidnapper in Gidan Mangoro village, linked to a recent abduction incident, further tightening security pressure across the axis.
Oteh said the integration of local vigilantes and civilian intelligence into formal military operations is reshaping tactical engagements, improving terrain familiarity and accelerating target acquisition across dispersed rural theatres.
