The African Action Congress (AAC), in collaboration with the Take It Back Movement, has launched a voter registration mobilisation campaign across selected communities in Anambra State’s 21 local government areas, as part of efforts to boost civic participation ahead of 2027 general elections.
The exercise which began on Friday in Idemili North Local Government Area, saw party leaders engage residents and community stakeholders on the importance of obtaining their Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs) and participating actively in the electoral process.
Speaking during the launch, AAC Deputy National Chairperson Chioma Ifemeludike, urged eligible citizens, particularly young people, to take advantage of the campaign to register and strengthen their participation in democratic governance.
Ifemeludike described the PVC as a key instrument for political change, calling on residents to turn out in large numbers and register, while aligning with efforts to promote what she termed inclusive and people-driven governance.
“The Take It Back Movement in collaboration with the African Action Congress, is carrying out a voters’ card registration campaign,” she said.
“This initiative is part of our ongoing commitment to deepen democratic participation and empower citizens through active civic engagement.”

She added that the campaign is aimed at strengthening civic responsibility and encouraging greater political awareness among citizens.
“We believe that true change begins when the people are counted and their voices are heard. This campaign is not just about registration, it is about awakening civic responsibility and strengthening the collective power of the people” she said.
She also urged residents of Idemili North and surrounding communities to participate actively in the exercise, adopting the campaign slogan: “No PVC, No Vote.”
According to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), voter registration is open to Nigerian citizens who have attained the age of 18 and those who were previously eligible but were unable to register during earlier exercises.
The campaign is expected to continue across multiple local government areas in Anambra State in the coming weeks.
