Osun State has reduced its domestic debt from N148 billion in 2022 to N83.32 billion in the first quarter of 2025, while also increasing its Internally Generated Revenue (IGR) by 139 per cent
The state’s external debt profile also declined from $91.78 million in 2022 to $75.14 million within the past three years.
The Director-General of Governor Ademola Adeleke’s re-election group, the Imole Campaign Council, disclosed this at a press conference in Osogbo, the state capital.
Senator Kamorudeen Oyewumi said the administration has recorded significant achievements in infrastructure, education, healthcare, agriculture, and the digital economy within three and a half years in office.

“We are happy to report that our government has reduced the domestic debt profile of the state from N148 billion in December 2022 to N83.32 billion by the first quarter of 2025 and external debt from $91.78 million in 2022 to $75.14 million,” Oyewumi said.
Oyewumi added that the state’s internally generated revenue rose from N24.47 billion in 2022 to N58.7 billion in 2025 following reforms introduced by the administration.
“We have equally cleared 18 out of the 30 months of inherited half-salary liabilities from the past APC government. Our government has also cleared in full the 28-month contributory pension arrears owed to retirees,” he stated.
On infrastructure, Oyewumi said the Adeleke administration constructed the first flyover in Ile-Ife and dual carriageways in Ilesa, Ila-Orangun, Ede, and Iwo, alongside over 300 kilometres of urban and rural roads across the state.
On education, he noted that Osun State moved from 33rd position in the NECO ranking in 2022 to seventh position in both 2024 and 2025 due to intentional reforms by the government.
In agriculture, he said the government distributed 440,000 cocoa seedlings, 80,000 oil palm seedlings, and 60,000 cashew seedlings to farmers, while 31 tractors had been deployed to cultivate over 5,100 acres of farmland under its agricultural initiatives.
On youth development, employment, and security, Oyewumi said the administration introduced Osun State’s first ICT policy and domesticated the Nigerian Startup Act to position the state as a technology and innovation hub. He added that the government also recruited teachers and youths into the Imole Youth Corps and Osun Amotekun Corps to tackle unemployment.
The Council’s Director-General expressed confidence that Osun people would reward the governor with their votes, saying Adeleke’s strides in infrastructure, education, healthcare, agriculture, and the digital economy have earned him strong public support within three and a half years in office.
