Cleric Advocates Ethical Leadership Reforms in Nigeria

A United States-based Nigerian preacher, Belema Abili, has called on Nigeria’s political and religious leaders and the youths, to embrace godliness and transformational leadership.

Abili warned that corruption, insecurity and economic hardship will persist without moral reform.

Speaking at a news conference in Abuja, Abili urged leaders at all levels to prioritise public welfare over personal enrichment.

“Nigeria needs spiritual and moral rebirth,” she said, arguing that the country could overcome corruption, kidnappings and poverty through leadership grounded in integrity and accountability.

“I want to be free to walk around in my country…Our leaders need to have the fear of God so they will do things to help the people, and not to enrich themselves,” Abili said.

The preacher also criticised what she called the growing influence of false prophets and sycophantic advisers around political leaders, arguing that such figures prevented leaders from receiving honest counsel.

“I believe that those in positions of authority need to experience a true servant of God for them to go in the right direction,” she said.

Abili urged Nigerians across religious and ethnic divides to unite in prayer and repentance, saying national healing required collective spiritual renewal.

Abili is the founder of Queen Belemzy Ministries-School of Power, a ministry known for using social media platforms to reach young audiences with messages centred on salvation, leadership and personal transformation.
