Team Nigeria Claims 4×400m Women’s Relay Gold

Team Nigeria won gold on the final day of the African Senior Athletics Championships, clocking a time of 3:29.25 to win the 4×400m women’s relay in Accra, Ghana.

The quartet of Esther Okon, Toheebat Jimoh, Jecinter Lawrence and Patient Okon-George ran a dominant race to secure gold medal in the 4×400m women relay.

Led by veteran patient Okon-George, they won the race with a 30 metre distance ahead of other teams, leaving Ethiopia second and Kenya in third place.

The ladies dominated from start to finish leading their opponents with an unreachable distance to secure team Nigeria’s fourth gold of the championships.

Rosemary Chukwuma Blazes To Women’s 200m Silver

Having already tasted gold in the 4×100m relay at the African Senior Athletics Championships, Team Nigeria’s Rosemary Chukwuma returned to the track looking to add an individual accolade to her championship haul.

The Nigerian claimed silver in the women’s 200m event clocking a time of 23.60s to finish second. Maboundou Kone of Cote d’Ivoire came first to win the gold medal in a time of 23.36s.

The silver medal underscores Chukwuma’s incredible work ethic and versatility as one of Africa’s premier sprinting talents.

The sliver brings her medals haul to 3 at the African Championships this year, having won gold in the 4x100m and Sliver in the 100m events.

Team Nigeria finished in fourth place at the 24th Senior Athletics Championships in Accra Ghana, ending with 4 golds, 5 Silver and 3 Bronze medals.

South Africa successfully defended its title in Ghana, finishing above Kenya and Ethiopia.
