The All Progressives Congress (APC) presidential primary election in Ogun State recorded massive participation on Saturday, as party members turned out in large numbers across the state to take part in the exercise ahead of the 2027 general election.
The former Governor, Ibikunle Amosun has expressed satisfaction with the conduct of the presidential primary election of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) in State.
Amosun described the exercise as peaceful, orderly and a reflection of growing support for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu ahead of the 2027 general election.

The former governor stated this after participating in the party’s presidential primary at Ward 6, Itoko, in Abeokuta South Local Government Area of Ogun State.
Amosun was received by a large crowd of party members and residents who chanted songs in support of the APC and President Tinubu during the exercise.
The former governor, who led Ogun State between 2011 and 2019, arrived at the polling venue at about 10:00 a.m. and cast his vote shortly after arrival, drawing applause from supporters gathered at the ward centre.

Speaking with journalists after voting, Amosun described the exercise as free and fair, saying “the turnout by party faithful demonstrated a united front in support of President Tinubu’s re-election bid.”
According to him, his participation was a show of solidarity with the President and commitment to the party’s collective position ahead of the 2027 presidential election.
“We are orderly, and that is how it should be. We are speaking with one voice.
“Everyone agrees that we want our President to continue his good work. Today is about showing support for the President, for the APC, and demonstrating that we stand with him,” Amosun said.

He said that enthusiasm among voters reflected growing political engagement at the grassroots level, noting that similar exercises were taking place simultaneously across wards nationwide.
From a human perspective, the scene in Ward 6 highlighted the emotional and symbolic weight of the APC primaries, with elderly party loyalists, youths and women gathering early at the venue, some singing party songs and waving banners as senior political figures arrived to participate in the exercise.
Also speaking, the lawmaker representing Abeokuta South Federal Constituency, Afolabi Afuape commended residents and APC supporters for what he described as an overwhelming turnout.
He said “it signalled rising public confidence in President Tinubu’s leadership.’
Afuape thanked party supporters for participating in large numbers, describing the exercise as a vote of confidence in the administration.
“The turnout today clearly shows the acceptability of our President,” he said, while also praising Amosun’s participation as evidence of unity within the party.
He expressed confidence that Ward 6 would continue to deliver strong electoral support for the APC in future elections, projecting significant backing for President Tinubu in the 2027 polls.
The APC presidential primary in Ogun State forms part of a broader nationwide process as the governing party mobilises support and consolidates internal structures ahead of the next electoral cycle.
Also party officials in several locations have reported orderly conduct and strong voter turnout, amid heightened political activity surrounding the President’s anticipated re-election campaign.
