Ahead of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) presidential primaries, the Sokoto State chapter of the party has adopted a former Nigerian Vice President, Atiku Abubakar, as its sole presidential candidate.
The former Chief of Staff to the former Governor of the state, Senator Aminu Waziri Tambuwal, Mukhtar Magori, made the announcement during a news briefing in Sokoto.
According to him, after wide consultations, the ADC Sokoto State chapter agreed to adopt Atiku Abubakar as its preferred candidate.

“This press conference was convened to convey the consensus agreement reached by the people of Sokoto State and the ADC to adopt His Excellency, former Vice President, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar (Wazirin Adamawa).
“This is in preparation for the forthcoming presidential primaries of the party, as well as the 2027 general elections,” Magori said.
He called on the people of Sokoto State to continue supporting the ADC at all levels to salvage the country and secure victory in the 2027 general elections.
The brief ceremony was attended by several ADC chieftains in the state, including the former Commissioner for Information, Dahiru Maishanu; former Head of Service, Abubakar Muhammad and the State Chairman of the party, Abdullahi Maigwandu, among others.
