Troops of 6 Brigade Nigerian Army/Sector 3 Operation Whirl Stroke have neutralised two suspected armed bandits and recovered an AK-47 rifle during a tactical forest clearance operation conducted in Donga Local Government Area of Taraba State.
The operation followed intelligence reports indicating suspicious gunfire activities around a forested corridor near the “Welcome to Donga” signpost in Akate District, triggering a rapid tactical deployment by troops operating within the axis.
Operational assessments within the Brigade indicated that troops encountered armed assailants shortly after arriving at the scene, resulting in a gun duel during which two suspected bandits were neutralised.
Recovered items included one AK-47 rifle, five rounds of 7.62mm special ammunition, two AK-47 magazines, two mobile phones and other personal effects.
The operation forms part of sustained clearance and area domination efforts targeting armed criminal networks operating across parts of Taraba State under Sector 3 Operation Whirl Stroke.
Within the Brigade’s operational direction, commanders reinforced the need for sustained offensive pressure against criminal elements threatening public safety and rural stability across the state.
Military authorities also maintained that operational reward and sanction mechanisms remain active as part of wider efforts to strengthen troop discipline, combat motivation and field effectiveness.
The Brigade leadership further acknowledged the troops’ rapid response and professionalism during the engagement, describing the operation as consistent with ongoing directives aimed at degrading armed violence and related security threats across the theatre.
Residents across affected communities were equally reassured of continued military operations designed to deny criminal elements freedom of movement and operational regrouping within the area.
