Borno State Governor, Babagana Zulum, has commended President Bola Tinubu for his intervention and support in securing the release of 434 residents of Ngoshe community who were abducted during a violent attack in Gwoza Local Government Area of Borno State.
Speaking in Pulka Governor Zulum explained that the freed persons were released in phases over time. According to him, 357 of them were part of the most recent coordinated release, while about 82 others had regained freedom earlier in smaller groups, bringing the total number of rescued persons to 434.

He said the victims were originally abducted from Ngoshe, a border community in Gwoza, following an attack attributed to suspected Boko Haram insurgents.

Governor Zulum praised President Tinubu for what he described as his personal commitment and intervention, which helped to accelerate the process that led to their release. He also commended the Nigerian Armed Forces and other security agencies for their coordination and professionalism during the operation.
He extended appreciation to the Office of the National Security Adviser, the Department of State Services (DSS), as well as local security outfits including the Civilian Joint Task Force, forest guards, vigilantes, and hunters who participated in the rescue efforts.

Zulum further disclosed that government had released funds for the rehabilitation of Ngoshe community, noting that reconstruction work was already near completion. He added that authorities were working with security agencies to ensure safe, dignified, and voluntary return of those willing to go back home.
He also announced the immediate humanitarian support for the freed persons, including distribution of food and non-food relief materials.

According to him, the rescued individuals are currently receiving medical attention and psychological support in government facilities before being fully reintegrated into their communities.
