The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has felicitated Nigerians on the occasion of Democracy Day and paid tribute to the resilience, patriotism, and unwavering commitment of citizens to democratic governance despite prevailing national challenges.
In a statement issued in Abuja by the party’s National Publicity Secretary, Jungudo Haruna Mohammed, the PDP urged Nigerians not to surrender to despair but to remain hopeful and steadfast in the democratic process as the nation marks another Democracy Day.
The party acknowledged that Nigeria continues to face significant political and economic challenges but stressed that citizens should not lose faith in democracy or become discouraged about the future of the country.
According to the PDP, democracy remains the strongest guarantee for accountable leadership, national development, and the protection of citizens’ rights.
“The challenges confronting our nation are temporary and surmountable. Through responsible leadership, strong democratic institutions, and the collective resolve of the people, our nation can overcome its present difficulties and achieve lasting peace, prosperity, and progress,” the statement stated.
The party further noted that through unity, resilience, and active civic participation, Nigerians can build a stronger, more prosperous, and inclusive nation.
Reaffirming its commitment to democratic principles, the PDP described itself as a party with a rich democratic heritage and a viable alternative for the promotion, defence, and sustenance of democratic values in Nigeria.
The party pledged to continue providing purposeful leadership and working with Nigerians to restore hope, strengthen democratic institutions, and build a nation that works for all.
The PDP also wished all Nigerians a happy Democracy Day.
