Minister Seeks Zamfara Unity to Boost Development

Nigeria’s Minister of State for Defence, Dr. Bello Matawalle, has called for collective action among Zamfara stakeholders to strengthen development efforts and advance the state’s future.

The call followed the Minister’s reception of members of the Alumni Association of the National Institute (AANI), Zamfara State Chapter, who visited his office in Abuja ahead of the association’s forthcoming summit.

The engagement highlighted the need for cooperation among leaders, policymakers, professionals and citizens in addressing issues affecting Zamfara’s development, security and social progress.

According to a statement issued by the Director of Information and Public Relations, Ministry of Defence, Queenet Iheoma-Hart, the Minister received the delegation during an advocacy visit and commended the association for organising a summit focused on Zamfara’s future.

Dr. Matawalle, who is a former Governor of Zamfara State and member of the Federal Executive Council, urged stakeholders to work beyond differences and pursue a shared commitment towards building a stronger state.

The future calls for dedication to the service of Zamfara State, to ensure that Zamfara becomes greater,” the Minister said.

Coopretation Across Sectors

He stressed that cooperation across sectors remains essential for sustainable progress, adding that collective efforts were required to advance both the state and the nation.

The Chairman of AANI Zamfara Chapter, Muhammad Isah, FCTI, mni, said the visit recognised the Minister’s leadership experience and contribution to public service.

Isah explained that the delegation sought the Minister’s guidance and experience ahead of the association’s July 2026 summit.

The summit is expected to bring together leaders, policymakers, academics and other stakeholders from Zamfara State to deliberate on critical issues affecting the state’s people, economy and security.

The engagement reflects continued efforts by professional bodies and government institutions to strengthen collaboration around governance, security and development priorities.

The forthcoming summit will provide another platform for stakeholders to examine practical pathways towards improving stability and sustainable growth in Zamfara State.
