Russia’s Deputy Foreign Minister, Borisenko Evgenievich, has welcomed Nigeria’s newly appointed Ambassador to Russia, Joseph Iji, during a meeting held in Moscow.
This was revealed by Ms. Daria Senyushina, Communications Officer at the Russian Embassy in Nigeria, in a statement released on Friday in Abuja.
According to the statement, “Ambassador Iji presented copies of his credentials to the Russian official during the visit.”

The meeting focused on key issues surrounding the advancement of the long-standing cordial relationship between Nigeria and Russia.
Discussions centred on strengthening political engagement and expanding bilateral cooperation across trade, economic development, science, technology, humanitarian affairs, and other strategic sectors.
Nigeria and Russia have enjoyed diplomatic ties for more than six decades, dating back to the era of the former Soviet Union. Russia maintains an embassy in Abuja and a consulate in Lagos.
Over the years, both nations have sustained a robust partnership covering areas such as trade, military collaboration, education, and energy.
