Civil society organisation Yiaga Africa has commended the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) for improved election logistics during the 2026 Ekiti State governorship election.

Yiaga Africa’s Executive Director, Samson Itodo, said over 68 per cent of polling units opened by 7:30 a.m., compared to 27 per cent in 2022, while voting and accreditation commenced in 99 per cent of polling units.

He noted that the improved early deployment of materials and personnel reflects progress in the conduct of the election process.

He said; “As the state moves into the critical result-collation phase, attention is on the performance of the eEC8A system, an electronic results sheet transmitted directly via BVAS devices”

Mr Itodo urged electoral officials to uphold transparency to ensure a smooth and credible conclusion of the process.
