The Chief of Army Staff (COAS), Lieutenant General Waidi Shaibu, has charged newly trained soldiers of the 90 Regular Recruit Intake to confront security threats decisively while upholding professionalism, discipline and respect for operational standards.

The Nigerian Army disclosed in a statement issued by the Acting Director Army Public Relations, Colonel Appolonia Anele, that the COAS gave the directive during the Passing Out Parade at Depot Nigerian Army, Zaria, Kaduna State.

Lieutenant General Shaibu said the newly inducted personnel would play a critical role in ongoing operations against terrorism, banditry and other criminal threats across the country.

He noted that the recruits completed rigorous military training, including Counter-Terrorism and Counter-Insurgency operations, equipping them with the skills required for modern security operations.

The Army Chief emphasised that while troops must deny criminal elements freedom of action, all operations must remain within the framework of the Rules of Engagement and the Law of Armed Conflict.

He urged the soldiers to demonstrate operational excellence, discipline and loyalty to the Constitution in the discharge of their duties.

The COAS also cautioned the new personnel against irresponsible use of social media, stressing that unauthorised disclosure of operational information could compromise national security efforts.

He reminded them that professional conduct extends beyond the battlefield and includes responsible management of sensitive information.

The induction of the new soldiers reflects the Nigerian Army’s continued effort to expand operational capacity while strengthening a force built around readiness, discipline and modern security demands.
