President Bola Tinubu has defended his administration’s focus on infrastructure development, describing it as the foundation of a modern economy and a key pillar of the Renewed Hope Agenda.
Speaking through Vice President Kashim Shettima during the inauguration of Collector Roads 01 and 02 in Abuja’s Mabushi District, Tinubu said the Renewed Hope Agenda is delivering practical benefits through improved roads and easier movement for citizens.
He urged Nigerians to continue supporting the government’s infrastructure drive, promising more roads, jobs and improved public confidence in governance.
The President said the newly completed roads have improved connectivity in Mabushi, linking the bus terminal to other parts of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) and easing traffic flow.
According to him, improved road networks boost business activities, increase productivity and enhance the quality of life for residents.
Tinubu noted that residents had long endured traffic congestion, delays and difficult commuting conditions in the area but said the situation is changing through ongoing infrastructure investments.
He reiterated the administration’s vision of building a world-class capital city where all communities, from the city centre to satellite towns, enjoy equal access to development.
The President also thanked residents for their patience during construction and acknowledged the inconveniences caused by road diversions and dust.
Tinubu commended FCT Minister Nyesom Wike for his leadership, saying his commitment to project delivery is driving visible transformation across Abuja.
In his remarks, Wike said the road project aligns with the President’s directive to improve infrastructure across all districts of the FCT.
Public Support
The minister attributed recent achievements in the territory to Tinubu’s leadership and called for continued public support to sustain ongoing development projects.
FCT Minister of State, Dr Mariya Mahmoud, described the project as another milestone in efforts to improve connectivity, open up communities and stimulate economic activities in the territory.
She thanked the President and Vice President for supporting infrastructure projects aimed at improving the lives of residents and visitors.
Providing an overview of the project, Acting Executive Secretary of the Federal Capital Development Authority, Richard Dauda, said the roads will enhance traffic flow and strengthen interconnectivity with neighbouring districts, supporting economic growth and residents’ wellbeing.
