The Governor of Akwa Ibom State, Umo Eno, has reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to transparent, accountable and results-driven governance, declaring that the state is entering its “harvest season” as strategic infrastructure and social investment projects gather momentum.
Governor Eno made the declaration at the close of the two-day July Monthly Delivery Meeting in Uyo, where he charged Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs), contractors and delivery partners to sustain implementation momentum and ensure that all ongoing projects are completed within approved timelines and specifications.
He said the renewed implementation drive is aimed at accelerating economic growth, strengthening public institutions and improving the quality of life of residents across the state.
Describing the monthly review as a strategic governance tool, the Governor said it provides the government with an opportunity to assess progress, address implementation challenges and strengthen coordination across critical sectors.
Quoting the Greek philosopher Socrates, Governor Eno said, “An unexamined life is not worth living,” stressing that insights from the review would further enhance service delivery and implementation efficiency.
The meeting reviewed implementation updates across agriculture, healthcare, trade and investment, maritime transportation, housing, tourism, internal security, local government administration and other flagship initiatives under the state’s ARISE Agenda.
Presentations covered the Ibom Model Farm, Dakkada Global Oil Palm Project, International Market, Ikot Ekpene, Oron Maritime Infrastructure Project, Ibom International Hospital, General Hospitals, Counter-Terrorism Unit Base, Doctors’ Residence, Executive and Legislative Quarters, Youth Development Centres, Judiciary Village and the House of Assembly Complex.
Stakeholders commended the administration for institutionalising the Delivery Meeting as a platform for transparency, accountability and inclusive governance. Senator Effiong Bob observed that “the ARISE Agenda is making measurable progress,” while Senior Advocate of Nigeria, Assam Assam, described the exercise as “the most impactful yet,” citing visible improvements in healthcare infrastructure and service delivery.
The Speaker of the Akwa Ibom State House of Assembly, Rt Hon. Udeme Otong, pledged continued legislative support, while the Oku Ibom Ibibio and President-General of the Supreme Council of Traditional Rulers, His Eminence Ntenyin Dr Solomon Etuk, commended the administration’s inclusive approach to development.
In his closing remarks, Governor Eno reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to translating policy objectives into measurable development outcomes through timely project delivery. He also thanked heads of MDAs, delivery advisers, contractors and other stakeholders for their commitment to the rigorous review process.
