Aondoakaa Rallies PDP Ahead of 2027 Benue Governorship Race

By Aloysius Umalo, Makurdi

The governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the 2027 Benue State election, Chief Michael Kaase Aondoakaa, SAN, has intensified moves to reposition the party for victory.

Part of the moves followed a crucial meeting with PDP House of Assembly candidates from the 37 state constituencies, where he directed them to immediately return to their constituencies to begin aggressive grassroots mobilisation.

At the high-level strategy meeting, Aondoakaa underscored the urgency of early political engagement and internal cohesion, warning that the PDP could only reclaim power in Benue through unity, discipline and a well-coordinated grassroots campaign structure.

The former Attorney General of the Federation and Minister of Justice told the candidates that the battle for 2027 would not be won in conference rooms or on paper, but through direct engagement with the people at the ward and polling unit levels, where electoral strength is built and sustained.

He charged the candidates to move swiftly to reconnect with the electorate, revive party structures in their communities and remain visible, accessible and responsive to the concerns of the people, stressing that the confidence of voters must be earned through consistent presence and purposeful leadership.

Aondoakaa said the meeting was convened to deepen collaboration among the candidates, foster unity within the party and harmonise strategies for the PDP’s success in the next general elections, noting that every stakeholder must see himself as part of a larger mission to return the party to power in the state.

According to him, the road to victory begins at the grassroots, and the party must build from the bottom up by strengthening its support base in every ward, polling unit and constituency across Benue State.

In a show of solidarity, the House of Assembly candidates pledged their loyalty to the party and its governorship candidate, assuring him of their readiness to work as one united political family in pursuit of victory in 2027.

Speaking on behalf of the candidates, Rt. Hon. Aondona Dajoh, alongside representatives of the three senatorial zones, Hon. Bemgba Iortyom, Hon. Tersoo Gyila and Rt. Hon. Egli Johnson reaffirmed their unalloyed commitment to the PDP’s success, urging one another not to relent or become complacent as preparations gather momentum.

They assured Aondoakaa of their determination to intensify mobilisation in their various constituencies, strengthen the party’s presence at the grassroots and do everything within their power to deliver victory for the PDP at all levels in the 2027 general elections.

Other speakers at the meeting were Hon. Abrahams Kwaghngu and Hon. Terwase Iyusa, who echoed the need for unity, hard work and sustained mobilisation as the PDP begins what party leaders described as a decisive march towards 2027.
