Dr Mobereola described the museum as a national repository for Nigeria’s maritime past, present and future.

This museum will preserve our maritime artefacts and records, while also serving as an educational and research hub for students, scholars and industry players,” the DG stated.

He noted that the museum would house historical artefacts, archival materials, and exhibits that trace the evolution of Nigeria’s maritime sector and key innovations in the industry.

According to the DG, the establishment of the museum reflects NIMASA’s mandate to deepen maritime awareness and build capacity for the next generation of maritime professionals.

By preserving our heritage, we inspire future talent, support research, and reinforce the strategic role of the maritime sector in national development and the growth of the Marine and Blue Economy, Dr Mobereola said.

The Agency called on students, researchers, maritime stakeholders, and members of the public to visit the museum to learn about Nigeria’s maritime journey and its contribution to trade, security, and economic growth.

The Maritime Museum adds to NIMASA’s broader initiatives to promote knowledge, professionalism and pride in Nigeria’s maritime identity.
