The Kano State Governor, Abba Kabir Yusuf has inaugurated a committee to review the implementation of his administration’s 2023 policy document, ‘My Commitment for Kano, and develop a new governance blueprint for the state’s future priorities.’
The committee is also expected to prepare Blueprint 2.0, a policy document outlining the Governor’s strategic vision for the 2027–2031 period, should he secure a second term in office.
A statement issued by the Governor’s spokesperson, Sunusi Bature Dawakin Tofa, said the committee had been tasked with assessing the level of implementation of commitments contained in the 2023 blueprint and identifying areas requiring further attention.
According to Dawakin, “the new document will provide a framework for consolidating ongoing reforms and shaping the administration’s development priorities over the next four years.”
The committee is expected to submit its recommendations after completing its review of the administration’s policy commitments and governance programmes
The committee will work under the supervision of Governor Yusuf and the Deputy Governor, Alhaji Murtala Sule Garo. Dr. Aminu Magashi Garba will serve as Chairman, while the Executive Chairman of the Strategic Governance and Policy Coordination Office, Dr. Yusuf Ya’u Gambo, will serve as Secretary.
Other members include Dr. Ibrahim Musa, Mallam Haladu Muhammad, Sunusi Bature Dawakin Tofa, Muhammad Nazir Halliru, Nana Asma’u Jibrin, Dr. Bashir Abdu Muzakkar, Dr. Farouk Kurawa, Kabiru Sani Yakubu, Dr. Abdulhadi Zubairu Chula, Yesmin Mukhtar, Dr. Halima Umar Sani, Dr. Kabiru Halima Umar Sani, Dr. Kabiru Shehu, Barrister Musa Lawan Abdullahi, Dr. Nasiru Alasan Kabo and Dr. Kabiru Ibrahim Getso.
The committee has been mandated to identify aspects of the 2023 blueprint that are yet to be fully implemented and incorporate them into the new document, while outlining policies aimed at sustaining ongoing reforms and advancing development across Kano State.
It is also expected to consult widely with stakeholders from government, the private sector, civil society and other relevant groups to gather ideas and recommendations for a comprehensive and inclusive blueprint that reflects the aspirations of the people and builds on the achievements of the current administration.
